You are reading this
web site because you do not have a regular attorney or you are
considering ending your relationship with your current attorney. Perhaps
your own attorney is retiring. In any event, you are wary of attorneys,
knowing they are expensive and worried that the attorney’s economic
interest in generating fees will deplete your resources without
substantial benefit.
You are unsure if
you can trust us.
One reason we have
an hour’s consultation without charge at the beginning of a client
relationship is we are fully aware that this current attitude towards
lawyers has permeated our society. We want to make sure the chemistry
between a potential client and this office will be correct. We need your
trust to represent you and have no interest in working with any client
who does not trust us to put their interests forward in accord with our
fiduciary duty.
The firms we often
fight…the large firms that abound in this City and the world…have good
lawyers. They are also impersonal, require their attorneys to generate
eight to ten billable hours a day, have an overhead that does not give
them freedom to bill less, and find themselves forced to become billing
machines.
As you will
determine if you check our biographies on the
Attorney’s
page, we are attorneys and professionals who can and have
worked in those environments. We have opted for a smaller, more personal
practice because, when all is said and done, we think top rate
representation can be achieved without becoming a billing factory in
which each minute must cost eight dollars or more.
We are not
inexpensive. Compared to the firms of our experience, expertise and
quality, we are both less expensive and more personally involved with
our clients. We chose that. You must decide if you wish to chose that.
Our job is to fight
for our client’s interest. That does not mean bellow and strut about
demonstrating that we are more obnoxious than our opposing counsel. It
does mean fully analyzing the situation with the type of intelligence
and expertise required and, if appropriate, fighting with determination
and effectiveness in a system of law that is akin to war. What Polonius
in Shakespeare said is apt: Dread entering into a fight; but if one must
fight, it is critical to make the other side dread you. Read the
War Stories
section of our articles page and you will see the underlying themes that
make up what we consider our approach to practicing law. Those are true
stories.
Our clients usually stay with us permanently. More than half of our
clients have been with us for decades. We consider that the best
testimony to the fact that we have achieved our goal in our
representation of our clients |
